I saw some wonderful photos that someone from work had taken of Bodie ghost town and luckily he gave me permission to use them as reference to do some paintings.
I love the strong sunlight and the colours of these images and hope I managed to capture the feel of the place in the painting.

I wanted to build up some experience with tying portraits.
Firstly painting her in shades of blue/green to get the tones correct and then adding the flesh tones using several glazes of oil.

The inspiration for this was from a photo I took on a morning walk a few years ago.  It was so peaceful that I wanted to see if I could capture the feeling in a painting.
