Jumping spider

Jumping spider - pastel

Not everyone will like this, but I find some spiders are quite beautiful.  I quite fancied trying my hand at a spider.  Most people at the art group were avoiding coming near whilst I was drawing this.

Sunflowers - Oil

This was a small oil where I was trying to keep the painting style loose.

Kingfisher - Pastel A4

I thought I would have a go at a kingfisher in pastels on pastelmat.
I couldn't resist trying to capture the beautiful colours of this feathery wonder :)

 Donkey - Pastel A4

I did this for a friend who's been very kind to me.

Tranquil River

Tranquil River - Oil

Second attempt to paint something that might suit my lovely gilt frame.
These colours suite the frame much better than the seascape I did a while ago.
I can't wait for it to dry enough to put it in the frame and hang it.

Winter Glow

Winter Glow - Oils

A small 9" x 7" snow scene based on a beautiful photo my friend Seb took.  Thank you Seb for your outstanding photography skills and allowing me to use your photo as reference!

It was a challenge to get the sunlight coming through the trees, but a great learning experience.

Barn Owl - Pastels

Barn Owl - Pastels

This is my neighbors beautiful barn owl called Quill.
I hope I've captured Quill's super soft feathers and cheeky personality.  Such a gorgeous boy!
I can't wait to get this framed and see if my neighbor thinks I've done Quill justice!

Goldfinch - Pastel

Goldfinch - Pastel

Stunning bird to try to capture in pastel.

I tried to keep the style similar to a previous work to try to make a matching pair.

Woodland walk - Oil

Woodland Walk - Oil

Based on one of my photographs of the woodland near our village.

Pasture - Oil

Pasture - Oil

This painting was completed over a few weeks at our village art group.
A few friends at the group have an interest in trying oils, so I brought in one of my photographs and with a little of my tuition and guidance we tried to complete our own versions in oils.
Everyone seemed to have lots of fun and we're going to attempt another oil in a few weeks.

American Kestrel - Pastel

American Kestrel - Pastel

This beautiful bird lives next door to us.
Absolutely loved drawing this cheeky little chap who's called Pip.

Summer - Pastel

Summer - Pastel

Tried to capture my friends beautiful dog in pastels.
Those curls were quite a challenge, but lots of fun to do.

Shetalnd Pony - Pastel

Shetland Pony - Pastel

This is the second of my friends Shetland Ponies.
Beautiful creatures to try to capture in pastel.

Shetland Pony - pastel

 Shetland Pony - Pastel

This was one of my friends beautiful Shetland ponies.
I loved the challenge of drawing my first detailed pony.
