Sunrise walk

Sunrise walk - oils

A small 10"x12" oil of my early morning dog walk heading back to our village.
The light was beautiful on this cold morning and everything was glowing in shades of orange giving the scene a warm feel even though it was a cold morning.  I tried my best to capture it.

Silver Birch

Silver Birch - watercolour

I felt the need to try another watercolour after concentrating on oils for a while.
I love both mediums so much!

Snow lesson

Snow lesson - oil

I am attempting to give an oil painting lesson to some of our art group.  This is the painting I am getting people to attempt in oils.
They're all doing really well so far.  We should finish the paintings next week.

Morning glow

Morning glow - oils

This small oil was based on a photograph in the SAA magazine.  They challenge you to paint from their photo.

Kingfisher

Kingfisher - pastel

I spotted an amazing photograph that I hoped to capture in pastels.
John very kindly allowed me to use his photo as reference.

Crow

Crow

A little experiment with pencils, white ink and metalic blue paint.
Thanks for the lovely photo reference from Darren Quigley on Pixabay.

Jumping spider

Jumping spider - pastel

Not everyone will like this, but I find some spiders are quite beautiful.  I quite fancied trying my hand at a spider.  Most people at the art group were avoiding coming near whilst I was drawing this.

Sunflowers

Sunflowers - Oil

This was a small oil where I was trying to keep the painting style loose.

Kingfisher

Kingfisher - Pastel A4

I thought I would have a go at a kingfisher in pastels on pastelmat.
I couldn't resist trying to capture the beautiful colours of this feathery wonder :)

Donkey

 Donkey - Pastel A4

I did this for a friend who's been very kind to me.

Tranquil River

Tranquil River - Oil

Second attempt to paint something that might suit my lovely gilt frame.
These colours suite the frame much better than the seascape I did a while ago.
I can't wait for it to dry enough to put it in the frame and hang it.

Winter Glow

Winter Glow - Oils

A small 9" x 7" snow scene based on a beautiful photo my friend Seb took.  Thank you Seb for your outstanding photography skills and allowing me to use your photo as reference!

It was a challenge to get the sunlight coming through the trees, but a great learning experience.
